No university in Canada has won more national championships in the past decade than UBC, thanks in large part to the men's and women's swim teams, which have claimed 22 of the last 26 national titles. The Thunderbird basketball, volleyball and soccer teams consistently rank among the nation's top five, with the women's volleyball team the six-time defending CIS Champions.
Thunderbird student athletes have an impressive track record of representing their country, with a multitude of its athletes participating and winning medals at international events such as the Olympic Games, the World University Games, the Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and many more events. UBC has produced 231 Olympic participants all-time, a wealth of international medal winners and even a pair of world record holders in the pool over the last decade in swimmers Brian Johns and Annamay Pierse.
