With a rapidly growing world population, and limited arable land, global food security is a serious consideration for coming century. As much as 10x more efficient at converting feed to mass than beef while require significantly less land and water, edible insects offer a very viable alternative source of high quality protein to help feed the world's population. With Open Bug Farm, we're developing open source insect farming technology, enabling anyone to take advantage of this amazing resource and gain protein independence for a fraction of the cost of conventional meat. Insect farming has the potential to harness unused waste streams (e.g. brewers mash and corn husks) for conversion into high quality food.
